    EBESSE FION-FION

    The name Ebesse Fionfion comes from Ewe, a language spoken in parts of Togo and Ghana. It translates to “burnt pepper”—a fitting name for this fiery blend of chilies and spices that embodies the bold heat and layered flavors of West African cooking.

    Our version was born in Canada, inspired by the traditional chili oil our mother began making for friends and family when she missed the flavors of home. In her small kitchen, she recreated what she remembered: dried shrimp, smoked fish, local peppers, and the volcanic heat of Togo. What started as a homemade jar passed around became her signature. She didn’t just bring the heat—she brought the soul of the dish.
